We spent the morning at Wilsons Prom exploring the geological features of Tidal River and Normal Beach.
It was our pleasure to host two Prom Granites Geology Beach Walks this month as part of our Coastcare Summer by the Sea event at Tidal River, Wilsons Promontory National Park.
The community beach walk followed the geological features described in local geologist Gary Wallis’ booklet Wilsons Promontory – Geology Guide. A copy of the guide booklet was provided to all attendees to refer to as we took an easy walk along Tidal River and Norman Beach at low tide.
We were fortunate to have Jo Whelan, co-author of the guide, who generously stepped in at very short notice to lead the walk. Jo, you rock (see what we did there?). Jo brought the booklet’s contents to life with her expertise in the field, discussing the geological features along the way.
The Prom Geology Walks were incredibly popular, so if you missed out on a ticket, don’t worry – we’ll be sure to run more in the future.
