About the event
Join Prom Coast Ecolink and Gippsland Threatened Species Action Group for an exhilarating morning stroll through Pat O'Malley's inspiringly revegetated property. Pat has worked for 20+ years, protecting the stands of remnant forest on his land through targeted revegetation of buffer zones.
The walking track he has established takes in areas of Lowland Forest (classified as Vulnerable) as well as Damp Forest and Swamp Scrub (both classified as Endangered). Pat will also guide us through the revegetated habitat he has nurtured as part of his forest stewardship program.
Pat's property is home to many vulnerable species of both plants and animals, including orchids, lyrebirds, sugar gliders, burrowing crayfish and lace monitors. He is a keen bird watcher and has compiled an impressive list of sightings that backs up the birdsong at every turn.
After the walk, please join us for a delicious morning tea and the opportunity to chat further about this fabulous patch of biodiversity on our doorstep.
If you are interested in the work of the Gippsland Threatened Species Action Group, you may like to sit in on their AGM, which will be held at 11:00.
They are achieving some great results, protecting the Giant Gippsland Earthworm and planting for biodiversity.
